TAFFA

TAFFA is a non-profit organization established in 1979 to represent all the clearing and forwarding firms in TANZANIA. Today the Association has a membership base of over 700 clearing and forwarding companies that are licensed. The Association is a founder member of the Private Sector Federation of Tanzania. The formation of the Association was initiated by the Ministry of home affairs  that was keen to see growth of the clearing and forwarding industry. The Ministry thus directed that an association to represent all firms in the industry be formed to monitor and evaluate the potential performance of the same but above all develop capacity building mechanisms and support systems that would promote sustainable development of the industry as far as economic growth and quality standards are concerned. Formation of the Association was therefore viewed as a vehicle for bringing together all companies in the clearing and forwarding fraternity to collectively identify and work on gaps that had over the years affected and tainted this profession. The fundamental aspect that led to the formation of TAFFA was to ensure that checks and balances through self-regulation and promotion of adaptation of best practices and enhanced professionalism are upheld by all its members. This has however been an uphill task as changing some members’ perception towards the approach has not been easy.

World Cargo Alliance

World Cargo Alliance, Inc., the largest and strongest network of independent air and ocean forwarders in the world, was established as a Colorado (USA) Corporation in 1998 with no freight forwarders in ownership thus preserving group neutrality. WCA is the only network that has full time neutral management and this is the reason why our members have more confidence and trust in providing specific needed information about their companies. All other networks are managed by “a few” members and this often tends to have the network going a direction that all members do not wish to support.
